A community football club with six decades of competitive history has announced its closure following a decision by its management.
West Bowling AFC has concluded its final season in the Bradford Sunday Leagues after sixty years of participation in local grassroots football.
The organisation will mark the occasion with a commemorative fixture at Emsleys Rec on September 27, providing former players and supporters with an opportunity to pay tribute to the club’s legacy.
A representative from the club stated that the decision to discontinue operations had been reached with considerable disappointment after it was determined that maintaining the team was no longer sustainable.
The final match, scheduled to begin at two in the afternoon, will welcome any individual who represented the club during its lengthy existence to participate, whether for a brief appearance or a full game.
Refreshments will be provided afterward at the Bridge Tavern to facilitate a gathering for those wishing to commemorate the club’s history.
The invitation extends to supporters who followed the team throughout its final years.
The dissolution marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in local football, with former players and officials reflecting on the institution’s impact across its sixty-year tenure in Bradford’s Sunday league structure.
