The fast-food chain McDonald’s has discontinued its Monopoly promotion in the United Kingdom after two decades of running the popular incentive scheme.
The game, which was first introduced in 2006, allowed patrons to obtain collectible stickers from various menu offerings, including fries, wraps, beverages, McFlurry desserts and additional items.
These game pieces presented customers with opportunities to secure prizes based on matching collections.
The promotion’s most recent UK campaign concluded on 21 October 2025, having commenced on 10 September of that year.
Available rewards during the final edition encompassed substantial prizes such as £100,000 in cash, a Jet2 holiday valued at £2,000, an LG OLED television, and a Merlin Annual Pass covering four individuals.
Additionally, customers had the chance to win complimentary menu items, with examples including Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, McFlurries, Apple Pies and milkshakes.
A representative for the company acknowledged the significant customer attachment to promotional activities, highlighting the recent introduction of the CARDS initiative in March and a inaugural collaboration with Xbox as part of the Side Missions programme.
The spokesperson indicated that while the Monopoly game would not appear in 2026, the organisation would maintain its focus on understanding customer preferences when developing future promotional strategies.
Consumer reaction on the Reddit community r/UKfood reflected disappointment with the discontinuation.
One individual noted that combined with alterations to voucher schemes and a previous product-related matter, there was little incentive to continue visiting the establishment.
Another commenter mentioned that although fast food consumption was infrequent, the Monopoly promotion typically prompted more regular visits, making the termination regrettable.
A third user suggested that the company would likely observe reduced sales figures as a consequence of removing the promotional draw.
Some patrons reported never having secured any winnings despite widespread accounts of the game’s accessibility, with one describing the outcome as positive.
