The Sunbridge Friary establishment in central Bradford has changed hands after its leasehold interest was sold on the open market.
The long-running fish and chip shop on Sunbridge Street was acquired following its listing by Ernest Wilson estate agents, with the buyer now undertaking preparations ahead of a fresh launch.
A sign displayed in the premises indicates the new venture will operate under the name City Fisheries.
No specific opening date has been confirmed at this stage.
The business had been placed on the market after Laura Hollingsworth and Kieran Osborne decided to divest their interest.
The pair had acquired the premises last November following a complete renovation of the site previously occupied by In Plaice.
The asking price for the leasehold was set at £29,950.
Marketing materials described the location as benefiting from consistent pedestrian traffic throughout the year.
The listing specified that the sale was motivated by the proprietors’ existing business commitments in Sheffield rather than any commercial difficulties with the outlet.
According to promotional details, the shop was generating weekly revenues of approximately £6,000.
The summer period was noted as delivering elevated income, with anticipated weekly takings reaching between £7,000 and £8,000 during peak season.
Hollingsworth and Osborne had held the business for under twelve months.
Their portfolio includes two cafe operations and an artisan pizza business, all located in Sheffield.
Industry observers at the time of their acquisition described the Bradford venture as their initial entry into the traditional fish and chip sector.
The premises’ heritage was noted by a former manager, who highlighted the building’s exterior character and its longstanding association with the fish and chip trade.
