The Office for Product Safety and Standards confirmed that the affected products contain concentrations of phthalates that exceed safe limits.
According to the regulatory body, such chemicals pose potential harm to children’s health and may cause damage to reproductive systems.
The recall encompasses three specific handbag models.
The Front Pocket Xbody Bag carries product code 1100258937001 and barcode 5059206286959.
The Opp Tote Bag bears product code 1100260834001 and barcode 5059206491797.
The Black Nylon Phone Bag is identified by product code 1100258939001 and barcode 505920628577.
Consumers who have purchased any of these items have been advised to discontinue use immediately and return the products to their nearest Asda outlet.
Full refunds will be provided without requiring proof of purchase.
Asda representatives confirmed that the affected handbags contain excessive levels of Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, commonly referred to as DEHP.
The company stated that the products fail to comply with the requirements established under REACH Regulations.
