The region’s mayor, Tracy Brabin, described the contracts as marking progress toward enhanced public transport options for residents.
These franchises constitute elements of the Weaver Network, an initiative designed to create a coordinated public transport system across West Yorkshire.
The scheme aims to bring together bus routes, rail services, pedestrian infrastructure and cycling facilities under a single unified approach.
Long-term proposals include the integration of a mass-transit tram network serving the wider region.
