A community fund worth £270,000 is scheduled to begin accepting applications on Monday, September 28.
The initiative forms part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade and will provide financial support to schemes delivering sustainable benefits for communities situated along the railway line connecting Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York.
Organisations located within five kilometres of the route may submit applications, with eligibility extending to groups operating near the Shipley Traincare Centre.
According to Anna Humphries, who serves as head of sustainability and social value for the upgrade programme, the scheme has over the past two years assisted numerous initiatives that have generated tangible improvements for local residents.
Grants ranging up to £5,000 will be available to qualifying bodies, with additional funding of up to £10,000 potentially accessible for proposals demonstrating enhanced social value.
Since its establishment, the fund has distributed more than £400,000 to in excess of 60 community organisations, educational institutions and charitable bodies.
Previous beneficiaries include the Friends of Ravenshall group and Lord Deramore’s School in York.
