Detectives are appealing for information after a teenage boy sustained knife injuries in Leeds during the Bank Holiday weekend.
Emergency services were dispatched to Roundhay Road at 6.05pm on August 31 following reports that the 13-year-old victim had been attacked with a bladed weapon.
The youngster was transported to hospital for medical attention regarding a wound to his stomach area.
Authorities confirmed the injury was not considered life-threatening.
Further investigation has led officers to establish that the assault likely occurred on Shepherd’s Lane, possibly close to its intersection with Back Hares Avenue.
Investigating officers are conducting door-to-door inquiries and examining available CCTV recordings from the surrounding streets.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Hartley stated that the incident involved a young teenager sustaining a serious knife wound.
According to investigators, extensive enquiries are underway, including neighbourhood visits and analysis of surveillance footage.
Officers noted that the offence took place in proximity to the Leeds West Indian Carnival, meaning numerous individuals who were present may not reside in the Chapeltown district.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed a group comprising a teenage boy and two female companions to come forward.
The individual sought in connection with the attack is described as a male aged approximately 15 to 16 years, wearing a balaclava, and accompanied by two girls.
Investigators believe the stabbing was a single, targeted event rather than a random act.
The force emphasised that the Leeds West Indian Carnival proceeded safely throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, with thousands of people attending without incident.
