A budget rail promotion has been unveiled by Northern, offering substantial discounts on rail travel throughout northern England.
The initiative features four million reduced-price fares, with single journeys priced at just two pounds each.
Alex Hornby, serving as Commercial and Customer Director at the operator, indicated the promotion represented one of the company’s largest discount events.
Hornby noted that the affordability would enhance the appeal of rail services and potentially encourage more passengers to discover the region’s urban centres, rural areas, and coastal destinations.
Early booking was recommended, as availability was expected to deplete quickly.
The promotional period spans three days, concluding on September 4.
Discounted fares permit travel between September 9 and October 23.
Purchases can be completed through the Northern website, the company’s mobile application, automated ticket machines at stations under Northern management, and staffed ticket offices.
Several major northern hubs are listed among locations with substantial availability of the reduced fares.
These comprise Manchester Piccadilly, Leeds, Liverpool Lime Street, Sheffield, York, and Blackpool North.
Northern’s daily operation encompasses approximately 2,650 train services, connecting passengers to more than 500 stations distributed across the northern regions of England.
