A serial thief has been barred from a town centre and all branches of a convenience chain across the city.

Amelia Ross, 29, received the prohibitions after confessing to numerous theft crimes at retail outlets in Morley.

Pleaded guilty to six shop thefts

Ross was penalised last month having admitted to six shoplifting charges.

The criminal activity took place at outlets in Morley and at the White Rose Shopping Centre, raising worries about her persistent targeting of local businesses.

Three-year court order

Following her conviction, officers from the Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team sought and were granted a Criminal Behaviour Order by magistrates.

The order will stay active for three years and prevents Ross from going into Morley town centre or staying in any shop in the Leeds area after being told to leave by an employee.

The order also blocks Ross from entering any One Stop store within the Leeds area.

The prohibitions aim to stop further criminal activity and safeguard companies that have suffered from repeated thefts.

Risk of imprisonment

Police have cautioned that breaking a Criminal Behaviour Order constitutes a criminal act and could result in additional legal proceedings.

Anyone who fails to comply with a CBO’s conditions faces potential consequences, such as a jail term.
