A male individual was spotted carrying a knife in the Cleckheaton region.

Locals took to a nearby Facebook group to alert others about a man brandishing knives on Saturday evening.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police suggested it involved a single weapon described as an offensive weapon.

A force spokesperson reported that emergency services were dispatched at 9:09pm to Brookfield Terrace in Cleckheaton following reports that a man had been observed with a knife.

Officers arrived at the scene and a man was detained on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a class A controlled substance.

He was conveyed to hospital for assessment. He was subsequently released from custody while enquiries remain ongoing.
