The pump track facility in Burley-in-Wharfedale is set for its official debut this weekend.

Crews are currently completing finishing work and road marking over the coming days in preparation for a formal ribbon-cutting event scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at 10.30am.

Once the ceremony concludes, the facility will welcome members of the public.

A track representative stated that everyone should join in marking this occasion this Saturday, expressing hope for favourable weather to enable a full day of cycling, additional circuits, refreshments and socialising.

Equipment such as cycles, scooters, inline skates, balance bikes, skateboards and safety helmets should be brought along.

Attendees are also advised to bring outdoor seating as sustenance, hot beverages and frozen treats will be on offer throughout the day.

The inauguration marks the end of an extensive period of community-driven financial contributions and development work.

The project was constructed by Velosolutions UK, the firm awarded the contract by Bradford Council. The company has earned international recognition for its pathway construction and pump track expertise, setting the industry standard for facilities of this type.

Intended for use with cycles, skateboards and scooters, participants generate speed through a technique known as pumping, which involves shifting body weight to build velocity without the need for pedalling, making it widely appealing and easy to access.
