New project launched by Bradford AFC to change how people get around city

Published on

A new community-focused travel scheme from Bradford City AFC is aiming to change the way people get around the city.

The Greener Bantams Travel Hub, launched in Bradford by the Bradford City FC Community Foundation and the club with support from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, aims to promote more accessible, affordable, and sustainable travel.

Lizzie Saunderson-Trowell, chief operating officer at the foundation, said: “Our vision is a city where walking, cycling and wheeling – including people in wheelchairs, and other modes of travel like scooters and skateboards – are accessible, rewarding and preferred ways to travel.

“Through community events, education and matchday engagement, we will embed accessible, affordable and sustainable ways of travelling into daily life.”

The hub will deliver travel-themed projects, walking groups, and educational activities with schools and colleges to encourage fresh conversations about the future of travel in Bradford.

Adam Keizer, sustainability lead at Bradford City AFC, said: “I’m really excited to see what we will achieve through our new Greener Bantams Travel Hub.

“It has the potential to make a lasting impact on the way people can travel in our city, and help promote walking, cycling and wheeling in Bradford.”
