Floristry students from Shipley College have earned significant accolades at a prominent horticultural exhibition.

The group caught the attention of judges during the Harrogate Flower Show contest.

They were awarded a silver medal for their joint display and secured three separate gold medals across individual divisions.

Sally Brewster, who heads the floristry department at Shipley College, said the commitment shown by both students and staff is remarkable, and they look forward to this event each year.

She noted it provides their main opportunity to showcase creativity, collaborate, and genuinely push boundaries—so recognition for that work is wonderful.

The joint creation, titled Madame Lunaria, was described as daring and creative, winning praise from judges and visitors alike for its distinctive interpretation of the show’s theme, All the Fun of the Fair.

The panel commended the imagination, skill, and artistic vision demonstrated throughout.

On a personal level, Rebekka Kill was named Best Individual Student Entry.

This latest success builds on a track record of strong performances by Shipley College at the Harrogate Flower Show.

Ms Brewster indicated the accomplishment demonstrates students’ dedication combined with support from floristry tutors Anita and Vanessa.

The floristry course at Shipley College emphasises real-world professional experience and encourages students to showcase their work at exhibitions across the country.

The qualification aims to prepare students for careers in the creative industries.
