A fresh dining venue is launching in Bradford this evening, with doors opening at six o’clock.
Holy Smokes specialises in halal grilled fare, smoked meats and burgers, operating as both a sit-down restaurant and takeout service. The venue occupies the premises at 25 Claremont Villas on Morley Street.
Its food selection features tender barbecued poultry, crunchy fillet sandwiches, Portuguese-style charcoal grills and hearty steakhouse-style dishes.
Origins in the capital
According to the establishment’s representative Zayd Islam, the brand began operating in London slightly more than five years ago and holds the distinction of being among the country’s longest-established and most recognised smokehouses.
Mr Islam explained that the business began with a smoker named Tiberius, and this weekend’s venue represents the fourth location in the burger chain’s expansion.
The company experienced considerable popularity upon launching in the capital over five years ago and subsequently expanded to Birmingham approximately two years ago. With two sites currently operating in London, the Bradford branch will become the fourth outlet.
Development and design process
The Bradford location distinguishes itself through the inclusion of what Mr Islam describes as the most up-to-date smoking equipment currently available. He mentioned to this newspaper that approximately twelve months were devoted to planning and fitting out the space.
The team carried out a complete renovation of a former dining establishment that had ceased operations during the coronavirus pandemic, he noted.
Local workforce and community commitment
Holy Smokes places emphasis on employing people from the surrounding area. In line with its commitment to making a positive contribution to Yorkshire and Bradford, every team member has been hired from Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region, Mr Islam stated.
The company is dedicated to backing independent traders in the area and has made certain that all produce and ingredients are obtained from suppliers based in Yorkshire. Special price reductions will be available to pupils and National Health Service personnel.
Additionally, management confirmed that provisions will be set aside each month to provide meals for rough sleepers and vulnerable individuals.
Practical information
The establishment will welcome customers without prior booking from Saturday onwards and also provides catering services for business events and corporate functions.
The venue remains closed on Mondays but welcomes guests from five in the afternoon until eleven at night on all other days.
