Fees for street trading and scrap metal business permits in Bradford look set to rise from next month, while charges for sex establishment licences will stay the same.

Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee will convene on Thursday to decide on proposed fee changes for various licence types across the district.

If committee members approve the plans, the updated charges will come into force on May 1.

According to the proposed revisions, a one-day street trading permit would rise from £102 to £145, while a seven-day permit would increase from £479 to £680.

Scrap metal dealer site permit costs would go up from £361 to £425, and scrap metal collector permits would climb from £208 to £235.

Fees for sex establishment licence applications—including venues like strip clubs, adult shops, and adult cinemas—would remain at £2,006, with renewal charges staying at £698.

A report submitted to committee members explains that cost assessments have been carried out for every licence type, taking into account the full expense of managing and processing applications from initial submission through to issuance, along with ongoing enforcement activities.

The cost calculations incorporate a proportionate share of overhead expenses including office accommodation, telecommunications, information technology, printing, supplies, and postage.

Staff costs cover salaries, pension contributions, travel, and a proportional share of senior management expenses. Legal services and central administrative costs have also been included.
